Would legalizing drugs be a good way to control the population?

Free jails of drug violaters. Give people that just want to harm themselves a chance to do so. Anyone found to be harming others should face penalities.

Some people who use drugs become aggressive with others, some do not. Weed out the bad ones.
I can’t decide if it’s a good or bad idea actually.

legalizing drugs would do nothing to control the population. It would control the population of jails yeah, but not anywhere else.
Drugs are a poison to the community and drug users harm more then themselves. They don’t just steal and rob and commit random acts of violence. They harm their spouse, their children, their community, and everyone around them.
A large percentage of the jail and prison population were either under the influence of drugs at the time they committed their crime that got incarcerated or they were committing a crime to get more drugs.
with all due respect, do you have any idea what drugs do to people emotonally, physically, and spiritually?
if you saw a guy about to jump off a roof would you let him? probably not. for the most part society is good. therefor it is difficult to let a neighbor hurt themselves.
you may not think drugs are bad, but until you get the experience with the end result, trust those of us that do work all levels of drug use.
